A discreet sign on the façade is testament to the historical importance of the “L’Écluse” project. It is indeed the first inhabited CLTB project and, therefore, the first CLT project on the European continent. The first of a whole series!
The building is located near the canal lock in Molenbeek, in a neighbourhood where gentrification is taking place. It consists of 9 houses built by the Fonds du Logement in 2013.
In April 2014, the CLTB received a subsidy from the Brussels Region to purchase the land. This made the housing affordable for the nine families who now live there.
The CLTB worked with its partner associations Convivence and La Rue in the preparation of the project. In 2015, the ribbon was cut in a festive way!
